Late 20th Century Giltwood Louis XV Style Hall Mirror
Structure is good but top decorations are coming off but can be glued in.
A vintage Louis XV style mirror created from giltwood, fit for royalty. This grand and uniquely shaped mirror features elaborate carvings of various floral and foliate motifs. There is an emphasis on visual lightness and harmony, much of its overall aesthetic is achieved through the design in ensemble, where facets of an interior and exterior are conceived together, so as to create a romantic whole.
The 18th century had a particular attachment to richly carved and gilded frames. The spread of ornamental carving in the interior during the reign of Louis XIV encouraged the production of giltwood frames. There are stunning original examples of the Louis XV style, alternatively known as Louis Quinze that have been maintained through today, such as the Palace of Versailles, France, which continues to propagate the style and inspire designers and fabricators today. In beautiful vintage condition.
Overall: 34” x 68” x 2”
